That engine is nigh unkillable. I have seen it go as high as 380bhp on stock internals. A lot of people in my country are actually swapping out 1.4tsi/2.0tsi/1.8tsi for the BWA engine. The new FSI engines from Volkswagen do without stratified injection and place greater emphasis on output and torque. Until now, FSI direct injection was ...

Balance Shaft Layout.56 pages So I'm currently thinking about buying a B6 Passat 3.2 FSI with an auto gearbox. The car would be about 200 000km-235 000km driven. I understand that the engine is a VR6 and should be reliable. How reliable would it be in all? Would there be some repairs on top of maintenance? How much are the maintenance costs? Or perhaps would you recommend something better while the criteria are awd and a +2,0 liter engine? I decided to check the Engine Oil dipstick today, only to find that the oil is way too much over the max line. Turns out, dealership that did the oil change never drained the existing fluid, and simply added new oil on top of old oil; per the oil change place. I can't fathom how is this even a thing. I was given a Passat from a friend that ate the cam follower on the high pressure mechanical fuel pump. It sat in his drive for 3 years afterward. He only owned it for about 3 months before it died. I replaced the balance shafts and the oil pump, replaced the intake camshaft, valves and valve seats. I also honed the cylinders and put in new rings. It has Audi R8 coil packs in hopes of not having issues with the ignition system. I noticed that the turbo shaft had about 3/8” of in and out play, ...

The code was a P0302, but I put new plugs/coils in less than 5 thousand miles ago. Any thoughts? EDIT: Coil #2 was out. Fixed.
